University of British Columbia
Faculty Member, Language & Literacy
About
I am an assistant professor of teaching English as a second language (ESL) in the Department of Language & Literacy Education at the University of British Columbia. My current interests include the critical analysis of discourse to examine language (learning) ideologies, social categories, student "resistance" to ESL, and identity in interaction. I am also interested in qualitative interview research in applied linguistics, especially the status ascribed to data as direct reports vs. accounts of phenomena.
